This is the story of our engagment. The Second beginning of it all...
June 30th, at Nico's Mexican Restaurant, Joey, Me, his family, and his aunt, uncle and 2 guy cousins hopped off to a Birthday Dinner for his dad.
Arriving at Nico's, we entered the authentic Mexican interior where Susie had her tripod set up for taking pictures of "Joe's Birthday." Right.
Anyways, unbeknownst to me, there was a white envelope hidden in the base of Joe's presents bag. After he opened all of his presents, Joey and Shelbie commenced a whispering storm and Joey handed me a white envelope. Inside, was a beautiful card with a rose on it, and, as I found out, a lovely part of Joey's heart. Somewhat song, somewhat poetry. Too cool.!
I read it, and to my dismay, a waiter in a starched white uniform came out and placed a simple saucer with an overturned teacup on the tabletop in front of me. Of course I had to open it up, and by that time had guessed what was happening. With my heart about to make my entire self pass out (which probably wouldn't have been a very good thing), I lifted the teacup and underneath was a ringbox.
Slowly opening the box...I found it to be empty!! How rude~! So I turned to Joey quizzically and he produced the last of the dozen fake roses(an additional story) from behind his back.
Attached delicately to the bottom, was the ring.
In one second, or two, or three, or twenty, I was unable to breathe, and just simply stared. *helloooo* When you plan these things out in your head you don't exactly ExPeCt to not be able to say anything logical. You expect to NOT be like everyone else who is struck dumb, and come out with some eloquent praise of how much they mean to you.
But no, I am just like the rest, I must say. Because I truly have no idea what came out of my mouth, but I am sure it was quite unintelligible.
Beautiful. The night was beautiful. Slightly upstaging his dad, unfortunately. But i don't think he minded much. After all, these things happen once in a lifetime. What a sneaky beau I have! That's one thing I know.
To keep this from me the whole time....
